Kenny Loggins is Not Monetarily Benefitting From "Footloose" Remake

Poor Kenny Loggins. Given the cultural resurgence of the 1984 film Footloose and its theme song via a Hollywood remake and a Blake Shelton cover song, you'd think that Loggins would receive some residual monies since he recorded the theme song and is owed royalties. But he won't be compensated due to a contract glitch.
"It says that any sequels are covered in the original deal, so they don't consider this a sequel," the singer said.
Despite the fact that he isn't pocketing cash, he digs Shelton's loyal, countrified cover. "They tried 10 different versions of the song and they kept re-cutting it because they wanted to capture that spirit of the original – and Blake came the closest," Loggins said.
Are you going to go see the remake of Footloose this weekend?
