Kevin Costner Performs Free USO Show with His Band Modern West - Actor plays first-ever USO tour with his band [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Waterworld left no stain on Kevin Costner's career. Much like Russell Crowe and Billy Bob Thornton, the Cost is exploring his musical side with his band Modern West, which took time away from a Euro tour – so that means the band must be like John Tesh and David Hasselhoff, who are adored, worshipped even, overseas but mean zilch domestically- to perform a free USO/Armed Forces Entertainment concert for the troops and their families at US Army Garrison Grafenwoehr on March 20. In all seriousness, big ups to Costner and Modern Wester for entertaining the troops, even if they probably plugged their ears and ran away screaming! We kid, we kid.

Prior to performing, Costner signed autographs for the troops and their families. Nashville-based singer/songwriter Sara Beck opened for the band, who released a debut, Untold Truths, in 2008. The follow-up, Turn it On, is out in Europe and will be released in the US shortly.

Costner, who we love for his work in Field of Dreams and Bull Durham, formed his American rock band in 2005. He said, "It was an honor for us to participate in this USO concert. We've toured around the world but there is something very special about being onstage in front of our U.S. armed forces and their families."

Would you follow Kevin Costner on his journey from film to music?
