The Detroit News is saying that Kid Rock's next album will be called Born Free and that it will be released on September 7. The Rick Rubin-produced affair will boast a titular first single, which in on tap to be released in late June. The guest list for the album is impressive, as is expected with Rock – born Bob Ritchie- and includes the unexpected pairing of Martina McBride and T.I. on a song dubbed "Care." Country breakthrough star Zac Brown is featured on "Flying High" while Sheryl Crow lends her pipes to "Collide," which also features Bob Seger on piano. That's what I call an all-star lineup.
Rock was reportedly snubbed by Seger at first. "I asked him to be on the track and he didn't call me back," Rock told the paper. "I started getting really nervous, and then a couple days later, he showed up at the studio, by himself. I said, 'Bob, why didn't you call? I didn't think you were going to do it!' He said, 'I was practicing.'" Wow!
Are you excited about these pairings? Who else should Rock recruit? Fellow Detroiter Eminem? Another Michiganite named Madonna?
