KILLBOT "Sound Surgery" EP Review — 5 out of 5 stars

KILLBOT—J Devil (aka Jonathan Davis of Korn), Sluggo, and Tyler Blue—inject some much needed darkness into the heart of electronic dance music with their debut EP, Sound Surgery iTunes link.
While everyone else has their hands up blindly to another faceless DJ in the club, pool party, or festival, these three get downright dangerous and destructive with a vicious initiative, message, and image. They're the whole package and more…
Musically, the title track skitters from glitched out dubstep into rousing electro that's immediately captivating and precisely danceable. It's a meeting point for the producers' respective style that culminates in a blast of raw energy.
Standout track, "Feel Alive", careens down to the depths of hell on some of Davis's best vocals ever. He delivers a haunting falsetto over the dubstep mayhem that channels Pretty Hate Machine-era Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus through a 22nd century war machine. Then, there's "I'll Fuck It". It's a sexed-up and sweaty headtrip fueled by J Devil's succinct guitar and Sluggo and Tyler Blue's maddening production. Plus, it's got the coolest chorus we've heard all year…
"Wrecked" treads an urban warfare with a hip hop stomp. Ultimately, Sound Surgery brings EDM to a new level. What Follow the Leader did for rock, this EP does for electronic music. The scene will never be the same.
Hail the new kings, hail KILLBOT.
