You might know KONGOS from their 2014 hit song "Come With Me Now," but that's only the beginning of the story. This band of brothers—there are four of them—moved to the States from South Africa in their teens and settled in Phoenix, Arizona. Their father (John Kongos) was a musician and had multiple hits in the 1970s. The group is involved with nearly every aspect of the creative process, including mixing, producing, and even shooting their own videos.
Their third studio record, Egomaniac, is set to come out later this year, and the band is looking to step out of the shadow of their first hit song. It's a daunting task, but not one that seems to weigh too heavily on the brothers.
ARTISTdirect's Christopher Friedmann sat down with Dylan Kongos to get his feelings on the upcoming record, discuss the culture shock of moving from South Africa to Arizona, and to take a peek into Egomaniac's first single, "Take It From Me."
