Korn "Never Never" Song Review — 5 out of 5 stars

Let's get one thing straight.
Korn don't play by the rules. They never have, and they never will. That's why "Never Never" is the perfect introduction to The Paradigm Shift—out October 8 via Prospect Park. The song itself bares the same kind of daring that "Freak on a Leash" and "Got the Life" do. It doesn't sound like anything else out there with its fusion of cybernetic synths and booming seven-string guitars courtesy of James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch. Meanwhile, Ray Luzier adds his distinctive percussive panache to the track as Reggie "Fieldy" Arvizu's bass booms throughout.
At the eye of this swirling storm, Jonathan Davis delivers one of his catchiest choruses ever. "I'll never love again," he croons. It channels The Cure in its sweet melancholy, but it's still distinctly and decidedly Korn. The dubbed-out breakdown mid-song proves wonderfully punishing too.
The rules have been smashed once more, and Korn are rising with their best album. Be prepared…
