The celebration, hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Harry Belafonte, will be held on Saturday, January 22nd, at 8:30 PM at The Yard in Park City, UT. Tickets (general admission: $50, VIP: $150) are available at www.waterkeeper.org.
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Waterkeeper Alliance and will be used to raise awareness and help stop the practice of mountaintop mining in West Virginia. Waterkeeper Alliance is the global environmental organization established in 1999 by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. The film, which features Robert Kennedy, Jr., portrays the devastating effects of mountaintop coal removal in West Virginia's Coal River Valley and the way residents and activists are standing up to the industry that has a strong presence in the region.
I have visited West Virginia multiple times and the beauty of nature is never more present than when driving on I-68 and taking in the mountains there. I really love the state and it has such a bad rap. It's not about hicks; it's about history. And you should definitely check out this documentary if given the opportunity.
