L.A. Philharmonic Taps Herbie Hancock As Creative Chair
The Los Angeles Philharmonic has named Herbie Hancock as its creative chair starting with the 2010 season. Hancock's two-year post will take over for Christian McBride and involve jazz programming for the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. Speaking of the latter, many of 2009's TBD shows were confirmed on Monday, including Bowl debuts from Faith Hill (July 17-18), Philip Glass (July 23), Placido Domingo (August 25, a collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma) and the Beastie Boys (September 24).A full rundown of Hollywood Bowl events can be found here.
