For the past three days music lovers from around the world have been stirring up the dusty Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. The first weekend of Coachella was filled with new songs from some of the world's biggest artists, surprise guests, and, of course, some technical difficulties.
Lady Gaga, who replaced Beyonce as a headliner, played songs from her 2016 album Joanne, as well as past hits, including "Bad Romance", "Paparazzi", "Born This Way", and "Poker Face". She also premiered a new song "The Cure", which you can listen to below.
Lorde played "Green Light" and "Liability" from her forthcoming album Melodrama, as well as debuting a new song "Homemade Dynamite". Melodrama is due out June 16th via LAVA/Republic.
In what might have been the biggest surprise of the three-day event, Future continued his run as possibly the most exciting man in music by bringing Migos and Drake out on stage with him. Migos played "Bad and Boujee" and "T-Shirt", while Drake performed "Jumpman" and his More Life tracks "Gyalchester" and "Fake Love."
Meanwhile, Schoolboy Q brought out Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky. Continuing the line of big name special guests, one of Coachella's most intriguing acts, Hans Zimmer, blew minds and hearts with music from Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, and Gladiator, and then was joined on stage by Pharrell.
Almost everything at Coachella weekend 1 went off without a hitch, that is except for Radiohead's set, which was marred by technical difficulties. But at least they'll have a second chance this upcoming weekend.
