Lady Gaga Bids $136,000 on Alexander McQueen Dress

Lady Gaga loves the late, great fashion designer Alexander McQueen, and not just because she helped to popularize his infamous Armadillo platform heels and dedicated 'Fashion of His Love' to him. Gaga dropped $136,000 on McQueen-designed dress, as socialite and style maven Daphne Guinness was auctioning off the pieces from her haute couture wardrobe in London. The auction benefitted the Isabella Blow Foundation, which was set up in the memory of the late fashion plate.
Gaga reportedly bid on the frock via phone, amidst some fierce competition. The item she coveted and subsequently won was an airy, empire-style 2008 ivory silk gown, called "The Girl Who Lived in the Tree." Since McQueen was considered a true visionary in the fashion world and the fact that he died -by his own hand- in 2010, the dress is likely to increase in value.
Guinness said, "I'm overwhelmed by how many bidders took part … and I'm particularly moved by Lady Gaga’s support for the foundation. I like her very much, and it’s lovely to see the nascent beginnings of something that may help other people." She raised nearly $750,000 for the foundation.
Gaga spoke highly of both women, once saying, "Isabella and Daphne are two exceptional human beings, women, icons. Daphne, like Isabella, is a huge source of inspiration for me. I cherish them both. It is as if we are all cut from the same cloth."
We want to know what Gaga is going to do with her new McQueen original. Will she wear it at her Born This Way Ball tour? Will she store it and save it for posterity?
