Lady Gaga, Father John Misty, Bleachers Cure Top Songs Of The Week - April 21

One might think that with Coachella in the air there might be a lull in new songs hitting the airwaves, but that certainly wasn't the case this week. Two of our favorite tracks of the past seven days came from artists performing at that very desert music festival, and one was even premiered there.
Lady Gaga took over Beyonce's headlining slot at Coachella, and did not disappointed. She even managed to surprise fans with a new song, "The Cure". Meanwhile, mixtape favorites Mondo Boys released a new 30-minute tape, which included Father John Misty covering the Velvet Underground's "Who Loves the Sun", maybe festival attendees will hear a live version this weekend?
It shouldn't surprise anyone that collaborations were big this week, simply judging by the amount of surprise guests at Coachella. Bleachers teamed up with Carly Rae Jepsen on their just dropped track "Hate That You Know Me". In what was maybe the biggest collaboration of the past seven days, Lana Del Rey dropped her new track, "Lust for Life", featuring The Weeknd. And even the godfather of punk turned up to take a his turn at a classic style.
Here are our favorites:
Lady Gaga — "The Cure"
The fact that Lady Gaga is still able to surprise audiences, is, frankly, surprising. Her image has been built on spectacle, but just when you think there might not be anything new, she follows up her stunning, just-released Joanne, with a brand new song, "The Cure". Is a new album in the works? We don't know, but we certainly hope so.
Father John Misty — "Who Loves the Sun" (Velvet Underground Cover)
Pure Comedy is stunning, and we'd understand if Joshua Tillman need a brief respite after such an emotional creation, but it seems like the man never rests. We'd probably shun basically anyone else's Velvet Underground cover, but the gloomy, bearded man's approach to the the their classic "Who Loves the Sun" deserves to be lauded. And having it released as part of a Mondo Boys mixtape deserves nothing less than applause. Check it out at 2:59.
Bleachers — "Hate That You Know Me" [ft. Carly Rae Jepsen]
Jack Antonoff has an ear for top-of-the-line pop music, and he has added another track to his collection that already includes hits from Lorde and Taylor Swift. "Hate That You Know Me" finds the Bleachers frontman Canadian pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen for an 80s-tinged pop spectacular.
Lana Del Rey — "Lust for Life" [ft. The Weeknd]
Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd got together again for the title track of Del Rey's forthcoming album. The result, another Hollywood classic that brings a cinematic sense to Del Rey's already lush sensibilities.
Iggy Pop — "Asshole Blues"
"It's fun to play the blues," Iggy pop told Rolling Stone about just new track "Asshole Blues". Adding, "I wrote a blues song about an asshole who's out to get me. It's full of negative energy. Listen at your own risk." We just feel bad for whoever the asshole out to get Iggy Pop is.
