The Business Insider reports that Lady Gaga and Kanye West have invested in music startup Turntable.fm and that they are contributing to a $7.5 million financing round, headed up by Union Square Ventures, to the start up service.
Turntable.fm is an online service where you sign up, create a DJ avatar and then listen to and share music with others. You can comment on their music, like it or dislike it. Others can do the same for your tunes. If you get enough points from positive comments on your music, you unlock access to even cooler avatars.
Right now, Turntable.fm is invite only, but you can score an invitation if you are friends with someone on Facebook who uses the service. It's also still in beta form, but with Gaga and West as part of the financial backing of the startup, it could really go places and explode in the pop culture sphere.
Do you use Turntable.fm? Does it sounds like something you'd like to sign up for?
