Lady Gaga Loves Her Monsters

A Hermes Birkin bag is an investment. Named after Jane Birkin, former "It" girl and mother of songstress/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, the sturdily constructed, classic bags carry a jaw-dropping, five grand price tag and most women would need to take out a small loan or remortgage their condos in order to purchase and own one. Lady Gaga probably received her white Birkin as a complimentary gift from Hermes –lucky her— but the version she toted boasted the phrase, "I love small monster, Tokyo love" written on its face, written in the Japanese alphabet. The singer was spotted days earlier, with a similar message scrawled on her arm, in the form of a temporary tattoo. It's a well-known fact that Gaga refers to her fans as "monsters" and it's the ultimate display of love to scrawl a declaration of love on a heftily overpriced handbag. That's true love, for sure!
Do you think Gaga committed the ultimate crime against high-end fashion by defacing her Hermes Birkin? Or is she just being the fashion iconoclast that she has built her reputation upon?
