This Sunday, Lady Gaga will join Metallica for a performance at the GRAMMYs. The news was first previewed via a promo for this year's award show, and was Tweeted about by a Gaga fansite. Rolling Stone has since confirmed the news.
After Sunday's performance at the Super Bowl, which featured Gaga jumping off a stadium — though the segment was filmed earlier — before she played a medley of some of her biggest hits, the only question remaining is, what's left for Gaga? And she has once again answered the call by pairing up with the legends of metal.
Metallica is up for Best Rock Song for their track "Hardwire", off their most recent album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct. In that category, The band are up against David Bowie, Radiohead, Twenty One Pilots and Highly Suspect. The band last played at the GRAMMYs in 2014, when they performed "One" with the classic pianist Lang Lang.
Lady Gaga performed a tribute to David Bowie at last year's GRAMMYs. She released her most recent album Joanne back in October, but it is not up for any awards as it was released after the 2016 deadline.
Gaga and Metallica's collaboration is one of many expected at this year's award show. The Weeknd is teaming up with Starboy collaborators Daft Punk, and Alicia Keys will perform with country singer Maren Morris.
Meanwhile, it was also announced that Katy Perry will played her new song "Chained To The Rhythm" at the GRAMMYs as well. With all of the amazing performances promised, this is sure to be a GRAMMYs for the ages.
