Lady Gaga recently released "Perfect Illusion" her collaboration with Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker and Bloodpop. If you listen you will also hear Josh Homme on guitar. The project has been simmering for a while, with rumors and anticipation building toward release.
This weekend, the singer shared a fuller lineup of artists that will feature on her forthcoming album. She name-dropped "Father John" who's on record, in an almost concrete confirmation of her collaboration with Father John Misty - who had appeared in an Instagram post with Gaga earlier this year. Beck will make an appearance, as will Florence Welch who sings in a duet, and who Gaga considered "One of the best - if not the greatest vocalist - in the world."
"Florence and I when we were working together we laughed, we cried, we hugged each other," she said of her excitement about the collaboration with Welch, which she revealed is called "Hey Girl." The lyrics open with Gaga singing, "Hey girl can you hear me/ Are you holdin' out your heart," to which Welch responds, "Hey girl can you feel me/ Sometimes I go too far." Gaga continued to recite her verses, "Hey girl it ain't easy I know it's pullin' me apart/ Hey girl don't you leave me/ Hey girl don't you leave me/ Hey girl we can make it easy if we lift each other/ We don't need to on oneing-up another."
Gaga promises that the as-yet-unnamed album is a deeply personal endeavor, "Every song on this album is completely autobiographical... These songs are implicitly related to things relating to my life," The artist wouldn't confirm a release date but promised that the album was coming "really soon... it's not very far away," saying that she was heading back into the studio with Ronson on Monday night to finish things up. "He's a wonderful, amazing, talented producer and he's totally embraced me as a female musician."
