When the news broke that Beyoncé was not going to be performing at this year's Coachella, it left many festival-goers heartbroken, and even more people wondering who might replace her. The usual rumor of Daft Punk turning up spread like wildfire — and just like every year, there still remains some hope that they might take the stage and remind attendees of what happened in 2006. But now there is some actual official news, and it's big.
How do you replace one of biggest artists in music today? With another one of the biggest performers in the industry. That's right, Lady Gaga will be replacing Beyonce at Coachella 2017, and those who are still sore about a lack of Beyonce on this year's bill can simply purchase tickets for next year. Lady Gaga confirmed the news on her Instagram saying, "Let's party in the desert!"
The annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is set to take place on two consecutive weekends, from April 14th through 16th and April 21st through 23rd. Also appearing at the Indio Empire Polo Club will be Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and a slew of who's who in the music industry.
News of Beyonce's departure hit fans last week, with the artist — who is currently pregnant with twins — pulled out "following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months."
Lady Gaga recently performed at Super Bowl LI's halftime show in what many considered one of the most epic big game halftime experiences in years. She followed that with a performance alongside Metallica at the GRAMMYs. Lady Gaga's Joanne world tour will begin in August. Why are we so excited to see the Fame Monster in the desert sun? There are a "million reasons", but we really just need "one."
