After an unexpected delay briefly took the wind from Lana Del Rey's sails, the "Love" singer has finally been anointed as queen of the album charts. Lust for Life is now Del Rey's second Billboard 200 Number One album.
It was one of the closest races in recent memory, as both Tyler, the Creator's Flower Boy and Meek Mill's Wins and Loses made a hard push for the Number One slot. In the end, though, it was Lust for Life's 107,000 units moved that saw her eek this one out. Tyler, the Creator was painstakingly close to his first ever Number One, with his new LP racking up 106,000 units. Meek Mill finished at number three with 102,000 units.
Elsewhere on the chart, Linkin Park's One More Light reentered the Top 10, jumping from number 17 to number four. It was one of two top tier records for the band that recently lost leadsinger Chester Bennington to suicide. The band's debut Hybrid Theory climbed from number 27 to number eight.
The rest of the list stayed somewhat as expected, with two more debuts making their way in. Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. fell to number five, the album's lowest place on the chart since its release 15 weeks ago. The Descendants 2 soundtrack debuted at number six. JAY-Z's 4:44 took a hit dropping from Number One, where it had spent the previous two weeks, to number seven. DJ Khaled's Grateful sunk to number nine. Rounding out the Top 10 was the final debut of the week, Romeo Santos' Golden slid into the top tier, making him the first Latin artist to reach the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 in more than three years.
