Leif Garret Pleads No Contest to Heroin Possession

Reuters reports that former teen idol Leif Garret pleaded no contest last week to possession of heroin after he was arrested last February in downtown Los Angeles. The cops picked up the singer and said he was exhibiting what they call "pronounced symptoms" of drug use, such as shaking and sweating. Garret was essentially tweaking out and then they found heroin on his person.
Garret, 48, was not immediately sentenced, nor did the judge appoint a sentencing date, since the singer of "I Was Made For Dancing" is expected to enter a drug treatment program in lieu of jail time.
The 48-year-old singer and actor has been battling the drug demons for years. He is a repeat offender, since, in 2006, he was arrested for possession of heroin and sentenced to 90 days in jail after opting out of drug treatment.
