After Will Smith and Terrence Howard flirted with the role, rocker Lenny Kravitz has reportedly been hired to portray singer Marvin Gaye in filmmaker Julien Temple's forthcoming biopic.
Directors Cameron Crowe and F. Gary Gray both abandoned work on the project.
Kravitz has acted in bit parts in Precious and The Hunger Games, but if he does tackle this project, it'd be his first leading role.
The film is tentatively titled Midnight Love and will focus on Gaye's final studio album of the same name, which was recorded in Belgium, where the singer was living in exile to avoid tax woes.
Will Lenny Kravitz make a convincing Marvin Gaye?
