Lana Del Rey didn't perform at Coachella this year, but she was in attendance of the festival at the Empire Polo Club Fields. Having experienced the festival from the arena, not the stage, the artist stopped in the woods on her way home to write a new song. She then shared a clip of herself singing a snippet of the tune via her Instagram account, with an explanation of conflicted feelings about the music festival, and her attendance at the event at a time when tensions with North Korea were stretched with the USA.

"I'm not gonna lie I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions [with] North Korea mount … On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song. I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual's hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run."

Del Rey sang the song a capella while surrounded by the trees. "I'd trade the fame and the fortune and fucking legend," go the lyrics. "I'd give it all away if you give me just one day to answer one question." Watch that clip, and then listened to the completed audio release below.

At this time there's no hint as to the inclusion of this new track's appearance on Del Rey's upcoming album. Lust for Life, which features The Weeknd on its title track, along with the recent single "Love" is also rumored to have a collaboration with Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks. You'll have to wait until May 26th to see if this new, politically minded track will feature.

I'm not gonna lie- I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w North Korea mount. I find It's a tightrope between being vigilantly observant of everything going on in the world and also having enough space and time to appreciate God's good earth the way it was intended to be appreciated. On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song. I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual's hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run. Hope everyone has a nice day, with love from California
