De La Soul has released "Trainwreck" off their surprise release For Your Pain and Suffering EP. Rolling Stone reports, "The four-song set was released to tide fans over while the group readies its crowdfunded full-length album, And the Anonymous Nobody. The LP will be their first since 2004's The Grind Date."
The rap trio raised over $600,000 to make their new LP, which they are doing without a label. The lack of restriction allows the band to tackle more ambitious tracks such as "Dawn." De La Soul's Kelvin "Posdnous" Mercer told Rolling Stone earlier this year about the song, "We couldn't do that on a regular label. How you gonna present them with a song like this? They may think it's beautiful but then it's like, 'Okay, so, there's no chorus. For maybe the first three minutes of the record, you're nowhere to be found.'"
De La Soul upcoming tour is currently set for seven shows this June and July. They will also be performing weekly concerts with Nas in Ibiza, Spain. The trio's first appearance is set to be at New York City's Governors Ball. As of the moment, De La Soul will only be playing one concert in the United States this summer. However, they will return in late September to play Long Beach, California's Music Tastes Good Festival, and then will be performing with Sylvan Esso in Downtown Long Beach on September 25th.
