Interpol's Paul Banks and Wu-Tang Clan's RZA have formed a group called Banks and Steelz. Back in October of 2013, the two revealed they were going to be making a record together, and today the first track from the duo will be premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show.
In 2013, RZA revealed to Rolling Stone how the collaboration came about, "My manager came to me and said, "Who do you want to do an album with?" I said, "Well, Paul just has an energy about him. I think if we put our sandwich together it will be great." Me and Paul, we play chess together and just hang out. We went to the studio and we started writing songs and they sound very, very different than what I do, but very unique and very peculiar. But it won't be out for a while. It may take us a year to finish this album. That's where my heart is at musically."
Yesterday, Lowe revealed on Twitter that the project has an installation up on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Meanwhile, Banks and Steelz tweeted that there is another installation up on Orchard Street in New York CIty.
Interpol last released El Pintor in 2014, and there has been no mention of any future music coming from the band. RZA last appeared on Wu- Tang Clan's Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, which released a single copy and was sold to this highest bidder, Martin Shkreli.
