HAIM have just released a new song from their upcoming album, Something To Tell You. The single is called "Little of Your Love," and you can hear it below.
Something To Tell You, is the band's second album, and an eagerly anticipated release after the incredible critical and commercial success of their debut, Days Are Gone. This new single continues in the thread that the band left off with that debut — lacing classic pop hooks into complex arrangements and multi-layered production.
The groove is deep here, as guitarist Danielle Haim shares a series of romantic lyrics whilst guitars twang, piano layers chime and drums that sound designed for a stadium show keep the rhythm section on track. There's odd electronica in the bed too, and a wah wah solo elevates this whole track into something as fresh as fans would have wanted.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Haim sisters recently said that they had written the track, "Little of Your Love" as a "homework assignment", having submitted it for the Amy Schumer movie Trainwreck. The film demanded a tight timeline and so the strict schedule focused the trio. The song didn't make the final cut of the movie, but the process got the ball rolling for the new album.
"Suddenly, there wasn't this daunting, abstract, second-record weight hanging over us," said Alana Haim. "It was, 'You have a week.' … We got back to just 'write how you're feeling.' After that, we wrote hundreds of songs. It was like vomit."
This new single follows previous releases "Want You Back" and "Right Now" — as the third song from the new album, which will be dropped on July 7th. The video for "Right Now" won the band a great deal of praise, directed by acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson it was all class, and very catchy.
Aside from this string of singles, and the slated album release, Haim will be back on the road this summer. They're scheduled to perform on June 25th at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK, and they'll follow Thursday, June 29th with a Tonight Show guest spot.
Busy times for the ladies, and good times for the fans.
