King Crimson have recently announced that they will be reconvening to tour North America again —their first outing across the continent in three years —with a lineup that boasts no less than four drummers. Imagine the noise, it should be good stuff. Along with news of the tour comes the issue of an EP called Heroes on which the band cover David Bowie's 1977 classic song.
You can listen to the King Crimson cover of "Heroes" below whilst you're waiting for the June 2nd release date of the EP. The tune, recorded in Berlin during their 2016 European tour, features the band's founding member Robert Fripp adding the song's signature lead guitar phrase.
Ahead of the EP's June 2nd release date, King Crimson has shared the "Heroes" cover. It was recorded in Berlin during their 2016 European tour and features founding member Robert Fripp on the song's signature lead guitar line.
In a press statement Fripp discussed the track "King Crimson performed 'Heroes' at the Admiralspalast in Berlin as a celebration, a remembrancing and an homage. The concert was thirty-nine years and one month after the original sessions at the Hansa Tonstudio overlooking the Berlin Wall. This is released in the Fortieth Anniversary year."
The classic tune, played by a classic band who are promising to bring something bold and new to the stages of the continent is cause for celebration.
