Maroon 5 have unveiled a new song. "Cold" features Atlanta-rapper Future and is the second straight hip hop tinged single for Maroon 5. Last October, the band surprised fans by teaming up with Kendrick Lamar on "Don't Wanna Know".
"Cold" is an anti love song that discusses affection slowly leaving a relationship. "Are we taking time or a timeout?" sings Adam Levine. "I can't take the in-between/ Asking me for space here in my house/ You know how to f*** with me." Future later adds, "I just spent half a mil on a chandelier/Now you trying to cut me off like a light switch." It's the kind of pop cold that pairs perfectly with this chill February weather.
In January, Levine revealed that the band is working on their sixth studio album, telling audiences he has, "never been more excited about the material." He also said that the record would be out "soon-ish" and would be hip hop influenced. Currently there is no more information available on the album. No release date has been announced and no title has been mentioned. Nonetheless, "Cold" will surly being heating up fans' anticipation for what will most likely be one of the biggest pop records of the year.
The band currently have a variety of dates coming up, starting with a February 20th concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They will also play at New Orleans Jazz Fest on April 29th and at BottleRock in Napa, California on May 26th.
If the rest of the album sounds like the new track it looks set to be a good year to be a fan of Maroon 5.
