Anna Bergendahl, one of Sweden's most talented young voices, is poised to make her U.S. debut in 2013 with the release of Something to Believe In (Decca Records). Something to Believe In is a diverse, emotionally charged album in the grand tradition of Tracy Chapman, Emmylou Harris and Norah Jones.
While the record carries the torch of these powerful female vocalists, it simultaneously comes across as fresh, clearly establishing this 20-year-old songstress as having a prominent position in the next generation of singers. You can enjoy a sneak peak at all 12 album tracks in this recently released album sampler, which is posted below.
Something to Believe In is the realization of Anna's lifelong dream of coming to America to work with an American producer and songwriter. She not only accomplished this goal, but did so in a grand fashion, working with legendary producer Larry Klein. It was kismet that Anna and Larry ended up in the studio together, as the resulting creative chemistry was truly something special. When asked to describe the songwriting process with Larry, Anna says "He would play a line on the guitar and it almost made me cry. I started to sing above it and one hour later we would have a complete song. Then you know that you're at home as an artist."
