Hollywood is beyond filled with freaks, but there is absolutely none quite like mama monster herself, Miss Lady Gaga. Once again, she swept through Los Angeles and took the city by storm shutting down Hollywood Boulevard and the surrounding blocks.
Lady Gaga returned to ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, July 28th for the first time since making her late night network television debut on the show back in October of 2008. It’s an understatement to say that a lot has happened to the five-time Grammy-winning pop singer-songwriter in the years since.
In support of her new album Born This Way Gaga put on an enthralling live performance on Kimmel's Outdoor Festival stage. What ensued can best be described as an epic block party of massive proportions. Kimmel shut down the entire city block behind his studio in order to accommodate Gaga’s legion of loyal fans, some of whom waited for over twenty hours to see a glimpse of her. Excitement and anticipation filled the air as they showed up en masse and were already wrapped around the block by 4PM.
Included in the line-up was Gaga’s late-night television debut of her newest hit single "You and I." In order to satiate her little monsters' appetites, she performed six songs even though she was only scheduled to perform three. In addition to "You and I", she ran through "The Edge of Glory", "Judas", the title track of her new offering, and "Hair".
Gaga engaged her fans with humor and true confessions of love for them, bringing the excited crowd into a frenzy of monstrous proportions. With white blonde golden locks down to her waist and a classic outfit only she could successfully pull off, she along with her back-up dancers got the already riled crowd jumping up and down right along with them.
With her uncanny presence, one can equate her talents to the likes of Madonna or David Bowie. Her energy is that of a tornado as she sweeps up on the stage in one fantastic costume or another, dancing and singing, captivating her followers into a trance-like state, something only a star of her caliber is capable of. It is safe to say that this monster is here to stay.
