Over the weekend, it was reported that Rihanna had pulled out of Lollapalooza Colombia over concerns about the Zika virus. However, according to Daily News, "the 28-year-old pop diva was never actually on the bill. The singer was previously invited to perform at the festival, but was never available for those dates." The outlet went on to explain, "Colombia's RCN Radio reported that Rihanna, a supposed headliner, wouldn't perform, leaving not enough time to find a replacement of equal star power." Wiz Khalifa, Lana Del Rey, and Disclosure were on the official Lollapalooza Colombia bill.
The festival never did specifically say Rihanna pulled out, and wrote a statement on their website about the cancelation, "After its lead artist canceled just hours before the festival was slated to announce the lineup, and faced with difficulties in finding the right replacement, the organizers of the festival have been forced to cancel the inaugural Lollapalooza Colombia. The fest was set for Sept. 17 and 18 in Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota.
Everyone who purchased tickets will receive full reimbursement, including the service cost.
Organizers of Lollapalooza Colombia want to express their deep thanks to all fans who supported the fest from day one, as well as sponsors and supporters. We hope we can come back in the future and make this first edition of the festival a reality."
