StubHub – it's not just about sports ticket exchanges!
Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li is the first artist to headline StubHub's Next Stage Benefitting Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation (MHOF).
Los Angeles Area Schools benefitting from full ticket proceeds of the benefit concert as well as a portion of an initial $250,000 provided to MHOF by StubHub include Hillcrest Center for Enriched Studies (Grades 1-5) in Baldwin Hills, Nightingale Middle School (Grades 6-8) located in Northeast Los Angeles and Santee Education Complex (Grades 9-12), located in South Central Los Angeles.
StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, is taking music to the next stage in its biggest music initiative yet to support emerging artists while giving access to the true music fan.
Launching with its first self-produced and self-ticketed live concert event, the Next Stage Concert Series, the Los Angeles date with Lykke Li is the first of the five cross-country dates in the series that will raise money for the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and local schools in each market.
"I'm very honored to participate in an event that ultimately brings music and creative inspirations to the people who need them most: kids," Li said.
StubHub recognizes that providing rewarding experiences and taking its music efforts to the next stage extends beyond the concert and, as such, is continuing the mission of its corporate social responsibility program promoting music education and the arts by naming Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation a national recipient of its Rising Star Award. The award comes with an initial $250,000 grant from the StubHub Foundation (a corporate-advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation) and access to StubHub's platform, partners and employee talent to help further its mission to keep music alive in schools.
The StubHub Foundation grant will be distributed by MHOF to schools in need, in the form of $50,000 in new musical instruments that will help ensure the continuation and expansion of school music education programs throughout five of the concert series markets. In addition, 100% of ticket proceeds from the Next Stage benefit concerts will be donated to MHOF.
The Next Stage Concert Series Benefitting Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation will go on to feature a different artist in each of the remaining cities: Nashville (June), San Francisco (August), Chicago (September), New York (October). For more on Next Stage or to donate to MHOF, please visit stubhub.com.
The show is Sunday, May 18 at the Roxy in L.A.
