Beck's Beer invited controversial rapper M.I.A. to do a limited-edition label collaboration, where Arulpragrasm sent them some of the art she'd been working on in India, according to SPIN. M.I.A. is known for her fashion and her music, so it's a smart move on the beverager's part.
"Things have their way," she said about the collab. "I was in India at the time doing artwork anyway, and somebody sent it to me, and it kind of fit with the theme of what I was making. And so I said yes because I felt like it was perfect."
When told she doesn't come across as a beer connoisseur, she conceded, saying, "I'm not too much of a beer drinker, but when I was at art school, Beck's always sponsored shows and stuff like that. I remember it being like a beer haze, not for me, but for most of my friends."
The entire label was her creation, too! "Yeah, I was making that as a painting, or with those elements anyway, and I put together a version for them out of what I was making for myself at the time," she said.
Would you buy a bottle or case of Beck's to get the M.I.A.-designed label?
