M.I.A. Still Dissing Lady Gaga

M.I.A., the self-styled provocateur, is still crying some sort of sour grapes over her labelmate, the superstar Lady Gaga. Seems that the rapper takes shots at Gaga at every turn. With her new album Maya selling absolutely no records, despite critical tongue baths serving as its reviews, M.I.A. is fighting to remain relevant and what better way to stay in the press than to diss someone selling a lot more records than you are and making a lot more attention-grabbing headlines than you are? That appears to be M.I.A.'s MO.
Recently, M.I.A. told Time Out that she was upset that Oprah Winfrey, a true culture changer, since she can mention a book or a product and its sales will skyrocket, was backing Gaga and bestowing praise upon the pop star. "[Oprah] made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she [Lady Gaga] is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There's millions of other Americans who represent that for me. Is [it] about numbers? About how much you're selling? Is it truly about the journey? Because [Lady Gaga's] journey isn't that difficult: to go from the fucking Upper East Side to a fucking performing arts school and on to a stage at the museum of fucking wherever. That journey's about four miles."
Is M.I.A.'s point valid? Or is she crying sour grapes? Even if Gaga was raised in New York, and went to a performing arts school, that doesn't mean she didn't work her ass off. She wasn't born into success! She was Stefanie Joanne Angelina Germanotta for many years before morphing into the Gaga persona.
What is your opinion of M.I.A.'s constant comments on Gaga?
