Much like Madonna and Oprah Winfrey, M.I.A. has announced plans to help build schools in the West African country of Liberia. Speaking to a crowd at an MTV Movie Awards after-party on Sunday, she said, "They're giving me $100,000 (for tonight's gig). Not bad, eh? I'm going to use it to build schools in Liberia. It costs $52,000 to build a school for 1,000."

Winfrey's all-girl South African school opened in January of 2007. Madonna's own Malawi school for girls will also open soon.
