When it was first announced that M.I.A. had been elected to curate this year's Meltdown Music Festival on London's Southbank she seemed like the perfect choice — an innovator, a cross-pollinator of cultural ideas and with a famous approach of getting things done. The artist joined the ranks of David Byrne, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Lee Scratch Perry, Morrissey and Jarvis Cocker as the decider of which other artists should be invited to the cultural mixing pot of culture for the duration of the festival which runs from the 9th to the 18th of June.

Now the full lineup of performing artists has been announced and it seems like M.I.A. has done herself proud. Soulwax, Princess Nokia, Father, Giggs, and Fakear all join the bill.

There will also be a Rinse FM block party, a "hip-hop karaoke" event, an afternoon of free events in honor of Refugee Week — a cause close to M.I.A.'s heart — and a whole bunch of other events and activities.

Recently the first batch of performers to confirm appearances were Crystal Castles, Mykki Blanco, Young M.A, Young Fathers, Yung Lean, Tommy Genesis, JD Samson, Afrikan Boy, MHD, Mr Eazi, I Wayne, and Dexta Daps.

Despite M.I.A.'s very public plea to Radiohead to feature at the festival, the Oxford band are not listed as confirmed in the full and final lineup, but with everything on offer it seems like there will be little room for disappointment. That said — Thom, if you're listening we're sure the event organizers would be able to shuffle their stage schedules just a little bit.
