M.I.A. and the NFL have settled their contentious lawsuit.

The cultural lightning rod rapper performed as part of Madonna's halftime show in 2012 and flipped the bird aka gave the middle finger, which was caught on camera and aired. That was considered a breach of contract and M.I.A. was thus sued.

The NFL wanted a whopping $16 million in damages, claiming M.I.A.'s action tarnished the sport's reputation.

The suit has just been settled. It's doubtful we'll learn the terms of the settlement, though.

    That said, case closed.

Who should play the halftime show this year?
