M83's search for a new female singer-keyboardist has come to an end. Band leader Anthony Gonzalez announced via Twitter on Friday, "Thank you to everyone who sent in their videos to audition to sing with me on tour! We had hundreds!" He went on to reveal in his next tweet that Kaela Sinclair has been chosen, "It was really difficult to choose a new singer for the band but when I saw @kaelasinclair it was obvious she would be perfect!"
According to Pitchfork, "Based in Dallas, TX, Sinclair released her debut album Sun & Mirror in 2013, featuring collaborations with members of the Polyphonic Spree, Midlake, and more. She's planning to release a new album this spring."
Last month, Gonzalez announced the band was looking for a new female singer-keyboardist via M83's website and asked applicants to send in videos showing them performing. He also went on to state, "You must be available to join M83 rehearsals in Los Angeles in March, be available to travel and work between April and December 2016 and own a valid passport for the next two years. You must also have no criminal history "that may cause you to be denied entry to another country."
M83 is currently set to begin touring on April 6th in New Orleans, Louisiana in support of their upcoming album, Junk. The tour will take the band across North America throughout April. Then they will head to Asia and Australia, before returning to North America and then heading to Europe. For more on M83, check out:
