Madina Lake Bassist Matthew Leone in Recovery From Second Surgery

I am pleased to report that sweet-as-sugar Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone is improving after undergoing a second brain surgery after being attacked in Chicago earlier this summer! His twin brother and bandmate, Madina Lake vocalist Nathan Leone, told NME that "My brother's recently been through some difficult times. It's been an impossible situation for a month and I've seen some things and gone through some things that I'd never wish upon my worst enemy. But most importantly, he's survived a second significant surgery and is on his way to recovery." Matthew had a part of his skull removed to relieve swelling in his head and the surgery required the piece of the skull to be replaced.
Nathan also said that there could still be many more health issues affecting Matthew in the long run. The bassist had no health insurance and fellow Chicago'ans Smashing Pumpkins held a benefit show in Chicago on July 27 that raised over $80,000 for his medical bills via ticket sales and auctions.
Justin Pivec, a 33-year-old Chicago resident, was arrested on July 2 and charged with "aggravated battery causing great bodily harm" to Leone and for battery against his 29-year-old wife. In one of life's cruelest ironies, Pivec is out on bail.
I am proud of how the music community has rallied around Leone.
