Madonna Being Sued Over Gym Name

Madonna has opened Hard Candy gyms in locales as far and wide as Russia and Mexico, named after one of her later period albums.
Now, Madge has been sued by the cosmetics giant Hard Candy, which claims that the Material Girl does not have the right to use the name for her fitness brand. Along with the gyms, the brand includes DVDs and clothing.
Hard Candy –the makeup maker—is suing Madge for trademark infringement and unfair competition. They are demanding damages and for the cease and desist of name usage.
Hard Candy was once a high-end brand made popular when Alicia Silverstone wore one of their nail polishes on late night TV and namechecked the brand at the height of her Clueless fame. The brand eventually went mass market and is today sold at Walmart.
