Put on your dancing shoes, Madonna fans -- Madge has announced dates for her latest tour, along with a promise that there will be "lots of disco balls."
"I'm going to turn the world into one big dance floor," the 47-year-old pop icon said in a statement released today (April 3rd).
The "Confessions Tour" will kick off on May 21st in Los Angeles and then continue throughout the U.S. and Europe, making stops in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago, New York, Miami, London, Rome, Dusseldorf and Paris among other cities. The last scheduled date is Sept. 3rd in Amsterdam, although more shows will likely be added.
Earlier rumors suggested that the tour would hit smaller venues, but instead it appears that the Material Mom will be sticking to the arenas that have been her forte since the "Like a Virgin" era.
Tour director and choreographer Jamie King has confirmed another rumor -- that the tour will focus heavily on material from Madonna's latest, disco-themed album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, with just a smattering of the old hits. "Listen, I love old Madonna songs -- I don't know one person who doesn't," King said in a recent interview with MTV. "But we want to focus mainly on this album."
Madonna, who has reportedly already recovered from a hernia operation she underwent right after the Grammys, will play a warmup show at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California on April 30th.
