Madonna Donating to Native Michigan

Madonna is a Michigander who hasn't forgotten where she comes from. Madge is funding three charitable projects that aid disadvantaged children and homeless women in the bankrupt Motor City aka Detroit.
Madge's efforts will help build the Downtown Youth Boxing Gym, which will hold free after-school boxing and educational mentoring programs for children, and will cover the costs of art, music and other equipment, including iPods and iPads, for students at the Detroit Achievement Academy.
Her Madgesty is also donating money to the non-profit organization The Empowerment Plan, which employs displaced women to make clothes and accessories for the homeless.
Way cool, too.
"I was deeply inspired by the efforts of so many people who I met who have dedicated themselves to helping the kids and adults in Detroit elevate themselves from the cycle of poverty," Madonna said about a recent trip to her home state, which she made since her eldest daughter Lourdes is going to attend the University of Michigan. "It was obvious to me that I had to get involved and be part of the solution to help Detroit recover. A piece of my heart will always be in Detroit, and I'm humbled to be able to give back to my community."
Detroit is at least $18 billion in debt, so Madge's efforts at least help a little. At least a native daughter still cares and is doing her part to help those at home, since she often helps others in various countries, too.
What can you do to help the city of Detroit? Spread the word. Do something! Even a social media share can help.
