Malin Akerman, Ryan Phillippe to Bang Up
Malin Akerman and Ryan Phillippe have joined the cast of The Bang Bang Club, an indie drama that takes place in Apartheid-era South Africa. South African documentarian Steve Silver wrote the script and will direct.Akerman, coming off her role as Silk Spectre II in Watchmen, will play a photo editor of the Bang Bang Club, a group whose photos captured the final bloody and historic days of white rule in South Africa. Phillippe will play one of the photographers. The film is set to shoot in and around Johannesburg next month.
Akerman will also star in the comedy Couples Retreat later this year.
