Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards disappeared in 1995 and is presumed dead, and the story of his mysterious disappearance is now going to be the subject of a fiction novel. The book is titled Richard and it was written by author and journalist Ben Myers. It is scheduled for release in October in the UK. Edwards, meanwhile, is presumed dead.

There are numerous theories circulating as to what exactly happened to Edwards, whose car was found at a notorious suicide spot near Bristol. Despite having battled depression throughout his life, those close to Edwards claim he never would have taken his own life; there have been Edwards sightings since his disappearance. The author, however, believes that the guitarist's personality, and not the mysterious circumstances of his disappearance, is what makes for a good fictional account.

Do you have any theories regarding Edwards' disappearance? What is your take on fan fiction?
