Mariah Carey Says "American Idol" Mentorship Would Have Been a Better Gig

Mimi the Mentor would have been a better American Idol role for Mariah Carey.
Carey has admitted that being a mentor, as opposed to a judge, would have better suited her during her sole season on the show.
"I should've been a mentor on the show and that's it," Carey told a NYC radio station. "I should have been the Jimmy Iovine." The Interscope chief she is referring to was a mentor from 2011 through 2013. Former judge Randy Jackson now holds the mentoring role.
As for her famous feud with fellow judge Nicki Minaj? "I felt that going into the direction of making it a 'reality show' isn't what I signed up for," Carey said. "The real Mariah was so not there."
And that's that.
