Singer Marianne Faithfull is co-curating an exhibition at Tate Liverpool that's called "Period Piece." Her source material? Her own damn life.
The show is scheduled to run from April 20 through Sept. 2 and it finds Faithfull working with Darren Pih of the Albert Dock gallery as well as ex-husband John Dunbar, co-founder of London's Indica Gallery. Faithfull has taken inspiration from her life to choose the pieces on show, per The Liverool Daily Post.
"I have been fortunate in that my life is intertwined with those of artists and performers whose work is a continuing inspiration, which has guided the selection of works for this exhibition," said Faithfull. Artists featured in the exhibition include Francis Bacon, Balthus, William Blake, Marlene Dumas and Lucian Freud. A photo by the late Robert Mapplethorpe, taken of Faithfull in 1976, will be featured in the exhibition. If you are a Faithfull fan or adore that era of culture, then this is an exhibit you won't want to miss.
Any Brits planning to check out "Period Piece?" Any Americans planning to head abroad to check it out?
