Marvel Entertainment is hiring a group of scribes to craft scripts for a variety of properties that the company wants to develop into films. The writers group will be similar to the fellowship started by the Walt Disney Company, which has been in existence since 1990.

In the Marvel writing program, five writers will be invited annually to work on specific projects. Marvel staffers are eligible to be a part of the group as well. The writers will be salaried for the year and they will be selected by company executives. Marvel will own whatever the writers pen during the year and reserve the right to continue the relationship beyond the one year period.

Marvel will also provide the pitches that it wants the writers to develop, including movies already in development and characters, superheroes, and villains that the company wants to transition to the big screen. The company hopes to launch lesser-known properties using this method. High profile writers will not be part of this group and the first five are currently being sought out.
