Poet Maya Angelou has revelaed that she now regrets collaborating with Common on "The Dreamer" since the song is filled with cuss words.
Rapper/actor Common met the Pulitzer Prize nominee Angelou at a fundraiser he was organizing after she stepped in as a guest speaker at last minute.
The celebrated writer penned and read an uplifting poem for Common's project, but after hearing the final track, which contains the derogatory term "n-----r," Angelou dismissed the song as vulgar, telling The New York Post that "I had no idea that Common was using the piece we had done together on (a track) in which he also used the 'N' word numerous times… I'm surprised and disappointed. I don't know why he chose to do that. I had never heard him use that (word) before. I admired him so much because he wasn't singing the line of least resistance."
Team Common or Team Maya Angelou? How should Common handle Angelou's distaste for the song? Should he redo it?
