Memorial Day Playlist: Songs Of Summer 2017
Mon, 29 May 2017 08:51:07
It may not be officially summer yet, but as far as most of us are concerned, Memorial Day is when we finally shed the last of our layers and once again embrace the sun and fresh air. It's the long weekend that signals the coming of everyone's favorite season, and the only question remaining is what will be your soundtrack for summer 2017.
A number of artists have dropped tracks throughout the year that are certainly in contention for the summer crown. From chart toppers like Drake, Calvin Harris, DJ Khaled, and Future to the season's favorite women Lady gaga, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus, there are plenty of big names turning the pop amps up to 11, but there are also some surprises. Those who are feeling a bit of weight and dread coming into the season may want to turn their ears to the indie rock world where Father John Misty takes a harsh look at the present, or give a listen to The National where diving inward isn't always the most pleasant of journeys. And if you are really looking to dig into the harsh realities of real life, there are few tracks as painfully honest as Mount Eerie's "Real Death".
The same clothes don't fit everyone, so we've put together a compressive summer playlist with the best sounds for the season, with choices for every feeling. Listen below:
