Metallica's self-titled fifth studio album (commonly referred to as "The Black Album"), released in 1991, has achieved a major milestone.
It is already the best-selling album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Now, it has become the first album to scan over 16 million units in SoundScan's history.
Wow. And they say rock is dead. Metallica just delivered a two-finger salute to that notion.
The album is considered a classic, and a commercial and critical pinnacle for the mighty M, although some of the more diehard metal fans might not view it as their finest artistic or most metallic hour, since those fans prefer the music to be heavier!
That said, the album and the band just made history, and CONGRATS! We love the album, especially "Sad But True." That riff is heavier than granite.
What is your fave song on "The Black Album?"
