Metallica, Big Sean, Todd Terje Soar In Top Songs Of The Week - November 4
Thu, 03 Nov 2016 12:59:18
It was quite the week when it came to new songs hitting the airwaves. From hard rock to hip hop to electronica, there was something new for everyone. Metallica shocked everyone with a new track. Big Sean debuted two new pieces of material. Gucci Mane kept on giving, and Todd Terje dove into jazz.
Honorable mention certainly need to be made for Alicia Keys' "Holy War", which will be available on her album Here today. Recent Sub Pop signees Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever gave us the promising "Julie's Place". And Metro Boomin came out with a rare track, "Forever Young".
Here are our favorites:
Metallica - "Atlas, Rise!"
Metallica has been gearing up for the release of their 10th studio album for the last couple months. The third single from Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, "Atlas, Rise!" came out as a punishing Halloween surprise, and did not disapointed. The record is due out November 18th and is over a staggering 77 minutes long.
Big Sean - "Bounce Back"
Produced by Hitmaka and Smash David, along with production from Metro Boomin and Amaire Johnson, "Bounce Back" appeared just hours after another new Sean track "No More Interviews". While 'Interviews' was a full-force attack, "Bounce Back" is the kind of upbeat track perfect to start off your weekend.
Gucci Mane - "I Told You" [ft. Young Thug]
Gucci Mane just continues to drop new music, and this week he surprised us by teaming up with Young Thug and releasing "I Told You". We aren't sure if it will appear on next months The Return of East Atlanta Santa, but either way it shows Gucci has plenty left in the tank.
Todd Terje - "The Mechanical Fair" (Remix of Ola Kvernberg)
Last week Todd Terje released a line of custom underwear, this week he unveiled a remix of Ola Kvernberg's "The Mechanical Fair", which is simply magical. Ola is an acclaimed Norwegian jazz violinist, and it seems like it's a perfect match for the "King of summer jams".
