MGMT have said that their new album will be out in June and that it's influenced by Aphex Twin and house music. The duo shocked fans with their weird sophomore set, 2010's Congratulations, and they plan to hang out so far in left field that they crash into the warning track with the new album.

The duo recorded alone, instead of with a live band, picking parts of their free-form jams that they liked, which were influenced by what they've been listening to, which is Aphex Twin and house music.

"We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it," Ben Goldwasser said. Andrew VanWyndgarden also dismissed the notion that the MGMT's label Columbia wants a hit and for them to return to their 2008 form with their breakthrough release, the song "Kids" from 2008.

"There's no illusion on their part that we're going to turn into a Top 40 band," says VanWyngarden. "That's kind of comforting." Are you going to check out new MGMT?
