Earl Sweatshirt, the Odd Future member who has gone MIA as the band's profile has increased, is featured as an interview subject in a new 8000-word piece in The New Yorker. Sweatshirt, 17, is living in Samoa and isn't feeling the "Free Earl" campaign that was enacted by both fans and Tyler, The Creator, of Odd Future.
He said, "The only thing I need as of right now is space. I've still got work to do and don't need the additional stress of fearing for my family's physical well-being. Space means no more ‘Free Earl.'" He is referring to the "Fuck Earl's Mom" chants that also occurred at Odd Future shows.
At 17, you can have all the space you want!
